Russia's ARKONA: New Audio Interview With Singer MASHA SCREAM

The Age Of Metal conducted an interview with vocalist Maria "Masha Scream" Arhipova of Russian pagan/folk metallers ARKONA on December 8, 2011 at the Tempe, Arizona stop of the group's first-ever North American tour as the support act for KORPIKLAANI. During the chat, which can be streamed using the SoundCloud player below, Arhipova talked about the trek, ARKONA's latest album, "Slovo", the inspiration behind the band's music and the group's future plans. (Note: The interview was conducted with the help of a translator due to the fact that Masha does not speak English).

"Slovo" was released in August via Napalm Records. The CD was recorded at CDM Records' studio, Moscow Sound, in Moscow, Russia and mixed between November 2010 and April 2011. It was produced, engineered and mixed by ARKONA guitarist Sergey Lazar and Arhipova. The mastering duties were handled by Sergei Lazar.

All the music and lyrics on "Slovo" were written by Arhipova, except for the track "Zimushka".
